Best Pueblo Brewery

Brues Alehouse Brewing

Brues Alehouse Brewing, located in the historic Riverwalk District, won for Best Pueblo Brewery and Best New Pueblo Restaurant. Brues offers fun and excitement with craft beer, sustainable food and live music. The restaurant serves upscale pub food with gluten-free and vegan options, and also has an innovative bakery and coffee bar.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by the people of Pueblo,” said Tony Garcia, who owns Brues with his father, Marty Garcia. “My dad and I have lived in Pueblo our entire lives and we’re invested in this city. To be a success here is very rewarding.”

Brues Alehouse opened in late December 2015 and boasts space for about 600 people. It features a main level restaurant and bar, a patio, bakery, coffee bar, a rooftop deck with a bar and satellite kitchen, plus lively music.

“We’re kind of a little city with all the things we’ve got going on here,” Garcia said. “We’ve done something different here and people have embraced it. We’ve tried to energize Pueblo and push some boundaries with our bakery and desserts, giving people what they might see in a bigger city.

“It’s a new concept [for Pueblo]. It’s similar to Ivywild School in Colorado Springs, but with one owner.”

It’s all in a building that is about 75 years old and used to be the Pueblo jail and police station.

As for the music, Garcia said, “We bring in a lot of nationally recognized artists.”
